Are you called to this ministry?The proclamation of Sacred Scripture is an essential part of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. During the Liturgy of the Word, Lectors read the First Reading (Old Testament), the Responsorial Psalm (from the Psalms) if they are not sung, and the Second Reading (New Testament). After the Gospel reading, homily, and Proclamation of Faith, the lector will read the Prayers of the Faithful if the deacon is not present. |
