Are you called?Monsignor Frost, Father John, and Deacon Dan are happy to talk about their vocational calling. God calls everyone to a vocation. Whether it be to His clergy; to religious life as a brother, sister or lay member of a religious order; to married life; or to life as a chaste single person - our Lord is calling you to a vocation! Will you answer Him? |
Prayer for VocationsO God, |
Holy Orders
"Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me."
- Jesus Christ (Luke 10:16)
"[T]his is the way in which the apostolic churches transmit their lists: like the church of the Smyrneans, which recordes that Polycarp was placed there by John, like the church of the Romans, where Clement was ordained by Peter." - Tertullian (Demurrer Against the Heretics 32:2 [AD 200])
Holy Orders is the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time: thus it is the sacrament of apostolic ministry. It inlcudes three degrees: episcopate (bishops), presbyterate (priests), and diaconate (deacons). - Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) 1536
